Lazy Sunday

Lazy Sunday
We’re walking through the park
Lazy Sunday
I glance across at you
We both know where we’ve been
And we both know where we’re going to
In the morning
With the sunrise
I know you’re gonna be
Like true colours in a rainbow
Still softly sleeping next to me
As we open our eyes
I hope it will always be this easy to see
On a Sunday love is lazy
That’s ok

Lazy Sunday
As I hold the door for you
Lazy Sunday
On your face the sweetest smile
We both know what we want
And we both know we can have it all
We are moving
With each other
Yet there is space to be
In separation and together
Like deep roots under our old tree
At the end of the day
I hope it will always be this easy to see
On a Sunday love is lazy
That’s ok

Lazy Sunday
I’m crying in the dark
Lazy Sunday
You glance across at me
We both know how it’s been
And we both know how it’s gonna be
In each heartbeat
For a long time
We’ve known that this is real
If we hold on to that heartbeat
We can make it through this tearful day
In the heat of the night
I hope it will always be this easy to see
On a Sunday, love is lazy
That’s ok
We’re ok

It's A Complicated Answer

I don’t know and you don’t know
Where we’re gonna go
How we’re gonna get there and
How we’re gonna know

Passing through my mind
Were thoughts to stay forever
But I just don’t know how to be with
Rain and stormy weather

If the sky was always blue
If I knew you’d always be true
If you say you’d stay right by my side
It’s a complicated answer and
It goes out with the tide

I don’t know and you don’t know
Which way this road will turn but
There are lessons on the way for
You and I to learn

Like how can you be faithful with
Temptation in your way and
How can I believe you there are
Lies in everything you say

If when I looked up at you
In your eyes I always saw truth
Can you tell me we will never part
It’s a complicated answer cos
It’s not what’s in your heart

You don’t know and I don’t know
How to do the math
How to feel the joy in life and
How together we can laugh

It seems so long ago
We moved as one together
Dancing in each others arms
As soft as any leather

I wish that I could say to you
I still love the things that you do
I wish I could and this is so absurd
It’s a complicated answer cos
I don’t know how to say the words

You don’t know and I don’t know
How long this thing will last
If we give it all we’ve got it’s
Not already in the past

As you brush by my shoulder
I turn into the space
Where you were standing just before
Tears rolling down your face

I know you’ve been with him again and
I don’t want to play this game
I know he’s in your mind all of the time
It’s a complicated answer but
I know that you’re no longer mine

That Which They Sew, So Shall They Reap

Dusk is falling on the street
People dancing on their feet
It’s an Eastern Mardi Gras
For this they have come far
There’ll be a feast and they will eat
They will spin like brothers
Holding one and others
That which they sew, so shall they reap
But under covers they will weep
For there are secrets they must keep
Cos ancient rivers run so deep

As many lamps light up the dark
The rhythm opens up their hearts
There's an Eastern Mardi Gras
In all the streets and bars
The living, breathing party starts
Children kiss their mothers
Arm in arm are lovers
That which they sew, so shall they reap
But in the shadows they will creep
The snow peaked mountains are so steep
They lie awake they cannot sleep

Love and magic fills the air
People moving everywhere
At the Eastern Mardi Gras
Carnival so bizarre
They are all gathered in the square
Celebrate with gusto
Await the manifesto
That which they sew, so shall they reap
The lies they sell are all so cheap
To/in shady corners they will sweep
Cos from the walls old blood can seep

Now dawn is breaking on the street
Exhausted people rest their feet
Post Eastern Mardi Gras
Party beneath the stars
To come together, was a treat
This year they met more brothers
Shook hands with one another
That which they sewed, so shall they reap
But under covers they still weep
Because of secrets they still keep
Those painful rivers run so deep

Love Through All Seasons

In the springtime of love
As we’re getting to know
How I feel, how you feel
All the dreams of the past
Where the love never lasts
Don’t matter at all
They don’t matter at all
Rollin’ river
Bringing fresh water to our shores

In the summer of love
Into heaven we go
I see you, you see me
While our hearts beat as one
And we touch till we come
All night long
All summer long
Rollin’ river
Bringing warm water to our shores

In the autumn of love
When the rain starts to fall
You hurt me, I hurt you
As the wind starts to blow
And the tears start to flow
It’s harder than ever
So much harder than ever
Rollin’ river
Bringing rain water to our shores

In the winter of love
When the nights have drawn in
I am cold, you are cold
But we know in our hearts
That the fire always starts
Cos there’ll be a spark
Yes there’s always a spark
Rollin’ river
Bringing clear water to our shores

The World Behind My Eyes

It’s dark all night
But days are bright
And when I look behind my eyes
It’s like the worlds in store
I couldn’t wish for more

Laughter, tears
My joys and fears
Sunshine and rain
Gift and blame
Venus, mars
Moon and stars

Reach high and low
For friend or foe
Black and white
Heavy, light
Empty, full
Push and pull

Good and bad
Be happy, sad
Uplift, put down
Smile, or frown
See and hear
Be sincere

I sat and prayed
My fears allayed
But they return
Until I learn
No going back
Take up the slack

Move Fast and slow
Above, below
Gaining ground
Outward bound
Find my voice
Make a choice

To Look behind
To seek and find
My cross to bear
When life’s not fair
Pour water, wine
Your glass and mine

To settle in
For gold and tin
Toe the line
Bereft, just fine
Hand on heart
Back to the start

There was a thorn
My clothes are torn
Just skin and bone
I'm all alone
Heart skips a beat
Can’t stand the heat

It’s dark all night
But days are bright
And when I look behind my eyes
It’s like the worlds in store
How could I wish for more

The Tears I Cry

I know a place with spirit’s free
I’m told no room inside for me
I’ve run aground
It’s the place for me to be
I’d love to say that I can see
I’m lost then found

There’s a sky where eagles soar
But there’s a closed sign on the door
Up in the cloud
There’s no light to show the way
And there’s no difference ‘tween night and day
I scream out loud

I’m here I’m there and nothing’s still
And in my heart’s an autumn chill
So hear the rain
I try so hard with all my might
I’m deep inside an awful fight
Here I remain

Not mine to have but theirs to hold
So I stay out here in the cold
Go round again
Not today I hear them laugh
As I turn down the other path
My sad refrain

I see a fire light in the dark
Beneath the embers was a spark
It’s always here
And from within each stitch in time
I watch the dots make up the line
I came so near

What was not lost, I did not find
I knocked the door, they changed their mind
Come in and try
The warmest place I've found till then
In open hearts among all men
The tears I cry
