That Which They Sew, So Shall They Reap

Dusk is falling on the street
People dancing on their feet
It’s an Eastern Mardi Gras
For this they have come far
There’ll be a feast and they will eat
They will spin like brothers
Holding one and others
That which they sew, so shall they reap
But under covers they will weep
For there are secrets they must keep
Cos ancient rivers run so deep

As many lamps light up the dark
The rhythm opens up their hearts
There's an Eastern Mardi Gras
In all the streets and bars
The living, breathing party starts
Children kiss their mothers
Arm in arm are lovers
That which they sew, so shall they reap
But in the shadows they will creep
The snow peaked mountains are so steep
They lie awake they cannot sleep

Love and magic fills the air
People moving everywhere
At the Eastern Mardi Gras
Carnival so bizarre
They are all gathered in the square
Celebrate with gusto
Await the manifesto
That which they sew, so shall they reap
The lies they sell are all so cheap
To/in shady corners they will sweep
Cos from the walls old blood can seep

Now dawn is breaking on the street
Exhausted people rest their feet
Post Eastern Mardi Gras
Party beneath the stars
To come together, was a treat
This year they met more brothers
Shook hands with one another
That which they sewed, so shall they reap
But under covers they still weep
Because of secrets they still keep
Those painful rivers run so deep
